Operating Principle

Wastewater treatment is an indispensable aspect of environmental protection. This article delves into a widely utilized valve solution in the wastewater treatment industry—the knife gate valve. The knife gate valve, as a type suitable for large flow rates and low pressure differentials, plays a crucial role in wastewater treatment systems.

When the knife gate valve is in the open state, the blade is moved parallel to the fluid direction, allowing fluid to flow freely, and the valve is in an unobstructed state. When it is necessary to close the valve, the blade is moved vertically to the fluid direction, cutting off the fluid. In this closed state, the valve prevents fluid passage.


  1. The knife gate valve exhibits rapid response, enabling swift opening or closing, making it suitable for scenarios that require quick fluid control.
  2. The blade of the knife gate valve provides effective sealing performance when in the closed state, preventing fluid leakage.
  3. Its relatively simple structure makes it easy to manufacture and maintain.
  4. Additionally, the knife gate valve demonstrates strong resistance to impurities such as sand and sediment.

However, the knife gate valve does have some drawbacks:

  1. Limited fluid control precision, primarily suitable for scenarios with large flow rates and less applicable for systems requiring precise flow control.
  2. Inapplicable to high-temperature and high-pressure environments, as its design is primarily for low-pressure differential scenarios.
  3. Susceptible to contamination; the blade may be polluted, especially when handling fluids with particulate matter, affecting sealing performance and operational stability.

In summary, the knife gate valve, as a critical valve in wastewater treatment systems, provides a reliable solution for enhancing wastewater treatment efficiency and achieving sustainable environmental development; However, careful consideration of its limitations in precise flow control, high-temperature/high-pressure environments, and sensitivity to contaminants is necessary when selecting the knife gate valve.

While changing the material of the knife gate valve can alleviate some drawbacks to a certain extent, it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Therefore, practical applications require a comprehensive approach, including optimizing material selection, introducing advanced valve control technologies, and implementing effective maintenance plans to maximize the advantages of the knife gate valve and enhance system stability and efficiency.

Rough Machining

With a 2500mm large vertical lathe and other heavyhorizontal lathes , we shape the material into therequired workpiece for our industrial valves.

Heat Treating

Metal materials are processed in our heat treatment furnace to improve their microstructure, ensuring the performance of our pump valves can meet our standard requirements.

Surface Finishing

The surface roughness of our industrial parts is controlled by our advanced sandblasting technology, ensuring the roughness value of the surface is within the required range.

Fine Machining

The finishing process of DomBor Valve involves the use of CNC machining precision equipment to guarantee all of our industrial valves have the expected quality and stable performance.

Boring Process

Experienced staff utilizes a large-scale CNC horizontal machining center to ensure all workpieces’ dimensions and shapes are accurate to the expected design range.


The dimensions, design concept, and shape of our industrial valve workpieces are finely tuned with our large-scale CNC gantry pentahedron machining center.
